German tourists are cruising in the streets of Salonika

The MS Hamburg Cruise ship docked at Thessaloniki’s port on Tuesday marking the beginning of the 2015 cruise season for the popular northern city. Carrying 375 passengers, mainly German tourists, and 150 crew members, the ship arrived at 9 am and until her departure at 4.30 pm tourists had plenty of time for sightseeing and visiting the city’s museums, while others were transferred by buses at the archaeological site of Vergina.

The number of tourists that arrive to the city with cruise ships is expected to increase in 2015 compared to 2014. The 2015 arrivals schedule, while still under development, includes already 31 confirmed cruise ships. The schedule provides that the last 2015 arrival is due October 31.

MS Hamburg’s next “stop” is the city of Volos.

The next cruise ship, Europa, is expected to reach the city’s port on Easter Monday, while the Saga Sapphire will arrive on April 19.
