An increase of VAT for the Greek islands is not, in any way included in the government’s list of reforms submitted to the institutions and to Brussels Group, confirmed government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis on private radio station Real FM on Monday. As the Greek government is concerned, “there is no increase of the VAT for any island in the list of reforms ", Sakellaridis said, adding however that, “the discussion is still open - as already been said by Mrs. Valavani and Mr. Mardas (Alt. Finance Ministers) - for some specific islands which wouldn’t suffer financially or touristically by a VAT hike”.
