Things to do in Athens during Easter holidays

Athens celebrates Easter 2015 and since you are in town during Holy Week with most theaters and other venues not operating as tradition requires, don’t get disappointed. The Museum of Folk Art and Tradition “Aggeliki Chatzimichali” hosts a travelogue-exhibition to the Greek Easter customs, which runs until the 19th of April, in collaboration with the Academy of Athens and the Greek Club of Women. On Holy Wednesday, April 8th, the Center of Clay (Fanosthenous and Sfiggos, Neos Kosmos) presents a ceramic eggs exhibition and holds workshops for creating Easter eggs (10.00-15.00, contact 210 9247.031). Also, the “Melina” Cultural Center at Thissio reveals Easter Greek traditions through narrations, music and photographic material (12.00-14.00). The soprano Despina Tsolaki will give a concert with prayers and hymns from around the world at 20:00.
A workshop on candle making will be set as well at the Cultural Centre of Exarcheia (15:30 - 17:30 & 17:30 – 19:30, contact 210 3835.541), while the Athens Municipal Gallery at Metaxourgeio (Leonidou and Myllerou str.) hosts a “family” event, “Easter eggs in the basket of Eggs Grandma” (17.00-19.00, contact 210 3313.038)
