Where to swim

The largest and best known beach on the island is Agioi Anargyroi- if you take the boat you will find Bekiris grotto for underwater exploration. Vrello is cosmopolitan and Agia Marina is comfortable. Kounoupitsa, Anargyrios Scholi and Ligoneri, also nice. Agios Mamas is sandy and Agios Nikolaos is pebbled. Kouzounos, Xyloreriza, Kamares and Zogeria are secluded. At Zogeria you can also have the renowned coq au vin at the local tavern.

 

Where to stay

At the Poseidonion Grand Hotel (+30 74553), one of the grandest balcons, fully renovated or at the Orloff Resort guesthouse on the old Harbour, a beautiful boutique hotel. Also note the Twin House Apartments (+30 74432), the Nissia at Kounoupitsa complex (+30 75000-10), the beautiful Zoe's club (+30 74447-8), the traditional Niriides guesthouse (+30 73392), the Armata Boutique Hotel (+30 72683) at Dapia, the Economou Mansion (+30 73400) offering traditional breakfat and free wi-fi.

 

Where to eat and drink

Go to Tarsanas for fish and socialites, to the Exedra for all day home cooking and fish, Mediterranean gourmet dishes at the Orloff on the old Harbour. Pizza and socialites also at Il Padrino.  On the Scholes side you will find To Nero tis Agapis, Mediterranean cuisine, the classic fish place Patralis, the Kaiki beach, a Mediterranean dishes restaurant. The Pachni features Greek cuisine and grilled meats. Go to the Souvlaki Spetses for gourmet souvlaki and to Klimi's or Politi's for local marzipan desserts. Have a drink at the Spetsa and later at the Booze. You will find Mouragio on the old Harbour, with a nice kitchen, wild clubbing at Stavento, the legendary Figaro, now called Tole and Guzel .
