Taxation of foreign shipmen discussed under negotiation

The taxation of foreign seamen working on Greek-flagged ships comes on the forefront in talks to be held between the Union of Greek Shipowners and the government, while the issue is strongly opposed by the union’s members.

As provided by the country’s new Income Tax Code, non-Greek seamen employed on Greek-registered vessels will now have to pay income tax here, though they used to be exempt.
