Over 500 employees dismissed from public sector

Public sector is cut down by more than 500 employees since 2013, announced the Ministry of Administrative Reform, according to which a total of 220 civil servants were dismissed in 2013 while within the first four months of 2014 nearly 304 employees left their posts. The employees dismissed were those found involved in serious criminal, such as child pornography, possession and sale of illegal substances, or disciplinary violations, such as bribery, embezzlement, forgery or other. Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the main objective of inspections within the public sector, which have been intensified in order to eliminate impunity in the public sector.
