The Ministry of Education is seeking funds to cover the excessive need for school teaching stuff for the upcoming academic year, as the number of retirements are high and there is very little room left for new recruitments. According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Alexandros Dermentzopoulos, state budget provides for 2,000 teacher recruitments with the remaining need being covered by community funds, which however are not yet secured. Hence, how and when the estimated 25,000 substitute teachers will be recruited, is yet to be seen.
