Traffic police checks school buses

In order to ensure safe transportation of students to their schools, Traffic Police has initiated a fierce hunt against inadequate school buses safe standards. During inspections started on the first day of the new school year, the 11th of September, 128 violations were reported in a total of 1,377 inspections on that day alone, while 253 violations were documented between the 11th and the 19th of September in a total of 5,920 inspections.
According to the police announcement, most of the violations concerned worn out tires, exceeded speed limits and seat belts deficiencies. Other violations included not having an emergency medicine kit, fire extinguisher and the appropriate car and driving documents.
Inspections on school buses will continue, announces the Traffic Police, along with a series of other measures such as deploying officers to regulate traffic near schools and informing local bodies how to handle problems regarding traffic near schools.
